He calls himself a revolutionary. The Wall Street Journal called him one of America’s top 10 innovators.
Dr. Bill Thomas pioneered the Eden Alternative, a movement to enliven nursing homes by bringing in plants, animals and birds for residents to care for and care about. He founded the Green House project, where up to a dozen elderly live in a family-like setting with their own bedrooms and bathrooms.
He also developed the concept of the senior emergency room — literally, an emergency room set up to address the particular needs of senior citizens.
More recently Thomas has focused on changing how Americans think about and approach aging. And he’s bringing his 40-city “Age of Disruption Tour” of the United States, Canada and the United Kingdom, which travels by rock ’n’ roll tour bus, to Omaha on Sept. 20 and Lincoln on Sept 21.
